Library of The Chathams Children's Services In the Children's Room you'll find an inviting atmosphere that features a collection of approximately 25,000 books. We also have computers for children to use in fifteen minute intervals, educational toys, a felt board and a separate storytime room. This program is made possible by The Friends of The Library HAPPY  HEARTS with Junior Girl Scout Troop 1204 Friday, February 1     4:00 to 4:45 p.m. Ages 4 to 7 Listen to stories about Valentine’s Day, sing songs, and create a Valentine’s craft with the girls of Troop 1204!  This program is limited to 15 children so please sign up in the Children’s Room starting Thursday, January 24. THE BEAUTY AND GRACE OF JUGGLING with Jennifer Shaw Monday, April 14 4:00 to 4:45p.m. Ages 3 and up No Registration Required In a breathtakingly beautiful blend of juggling and dance, 2002 International Juggler’s Association Three Ball Champion Jennifer Shaw will present a program of graceful and artistic juggling. Her signature 3 ball act is a dance set to instrumental hip-hop music. Slaw dances around the balls and at all times, the balls weave in and out of her legs and around her body! This program is made possible by the Friends of the Library INTERACTIVE MUSICAL CONCERT with Presley & Melody Thursday, April 24 4:00 to 4:45 p.m. Pre-School & Up No Registration Required Professional musicians Presley & Melody have been delighting audiences for years with their special children’s concerts.  Join us for this wonderful show of original and popular music. This event is made possible by The Friends of The Library CREATE VAN GOGH’S SUNFLOWERS! Van Gogh was an expressionist, which means that he depicted strong feeling in his paintings. He especially loved to paint bright yellow sunflowers. In the following two classes for two different age groups, Abrakadoodle will show children how to work with multiple materials and textures to recreate Van Gogh’s sunflower picture. AGES 20 TO 36 MONTHS (WITH AN ADULT) Friday, May 9 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. This program is limited to 20 children so please sign up in the Children’s Room starting Monday, April 28. These programs are sponsored by The Friends of The Library MUSIC  TO  MOVE  BY with Ann  Wild Wednesday, May 21 4:00 to 4:45 p.m. Newborn to 4 years No Registration Required This program is designed to musically engage your preschooler or infant in a way that is developmentally appropriate.  Through the use of song, movement, guitar, shakey eggs, and scarves and drums, professional musician Ann Wild creates a musical environment that is sure to delight and inspire the musician in your child. This event is made possible by The Friends of The Library MOVIE TIME! Children of all ages are invited to watch movies at the library on the following mornings in January: Monday, January 14 and Thursday, January 24. And the following mornings in April and May: Mondays, April 28 and May 12. 10:00 to 10:30 a.m.  No Registration Required IT’S STORYTIME! (FOR CHATHAM RESIDENTS ONLY) Storytimes will begin in the week of January 28 and continue through the week of April 14.
