Friends of The Library
The Friends of the Library of The Chathams
are concerned citizens from both Chatham
Borough and the Township
of Chatham who want to
help our Joint Library give the very best possible service to both communities.
They raise money for books, materials, services, programs and improvements
which the Library could not otherwise provide from municipal funds. They
assist in promoting better use of the Library with projects such as art
exhibits, home-reader service, storytimes,
book sales and community events. They support the Board of Trustees and
Library staff in efforts to keep our Joint Library responsive to the needs
of the Chathams.
Volunteers for Friends' projects such as the big annual Book Sale are always welcome - just talk to a staff person or any member of the Friends' Executive Board:

In 2009, 553 households from the Borough and Township joined The Friends of the Library, contributing over $23,000 to help your Library give the best possible service. Over $21,000 was raised at the used Book Sale. This money goes towards purchasing new books and media for circulation.
Become a member of the Friends of the Library! Contributions are tax-deductible. And please remember to check with your employer for cultural matching funds. Make checks out to "Friends of The Library". Forms are available at the circulation desk.

2010 Book Sale:
January 13th - February 27th - Donations of used books accepted for Book Sale.
Book Sale March 12 - Friends Sale 6:30 - 8:30 pm
Book Sale March 13 - 8:00-9:00 am with $20 admission fee, 10:00 - 4:00 free of charge
Bag Sale March 14 - 1:00 - 4:00 pm
Bag Sale March 15 & 16 - 9:30 am - 8:00 pm
Donations of paperback fiction books in good condition are accepted all year long. We accept donations of books for the March Book Sale ONLY in January and February. Please observe the following guidelines: NO dirty or badly worn books, NO textbooks, magazines, or condensed books,
NO yellowed paperbacks. NO books that have been wet and may be moldy. NO out-of-date information books, e.g. no travel books more than 5 years old. Thank you for your cooperation. It is difficult to dispose of books that are not sold.
